Cowgirl Track Performs at Sooner Indoor Meet

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's indoor track team had a first-place finish and three second-place finishes at the Sooner Indoor Meet at the Mosier Indoor Facility in Norman, Okla.
Alex Lindquist won the mile run in her first race of the season with a time of 4:59.06. The senior was the Big 12 champion in the mile in 1998. She edged teammate Siri Alfheim by half a second.
Cowgirl sophomore Sharalee Sparks and freshman Janine Brown were sixth and seventh in the mile, respectively. Sparks had a time of 5:18.39, while Brown came in right behind her with a time of 5:18.70.
Sophomore Valentina Medina finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.42, while sophomore Sara Kofoed came in sixth in the event with a time of 2:22.47.
Kristina Klos, a junior from Edmond, Okla., made a surge in the 3,000-meter run to finish second with a time of 11:03.32. Klos surged past Jackie Dubois of Oklahoma on the final lap to capture second. Joanna fedick and Lindsay Hall finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
Freshmen Alison Erzinger and Melissa Ndubilo finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash, while Desiree Brown came in ninth in the long jump.
The Cowgirls will travel to Lincoln, Neb. for the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 22-23.
