Cowboy Wrestling Tops Sooners, 23-16

Oklahoma State's top-ranked wrestling team won six of the matches 10 matches en route to a 23-16 victory over the fourth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.
OU took an early 3-0 lead after top-ranked Josh Lambrecht decisioned Jake Rosholt 7-2.
The Cowboys (3-0, 2-0) knotted up the score at 3-3 after third-ranked Muhammed Lawal decisioned No. 14 Tom Grossman, 3-1.
OU extended its lead to 16-3 after recording a pin by Leonce Crump and decisions by Bo Maynes and Witt Durden.
OSU cut the lead to 16-9 after second-ranked Zack Esposito pinned ninth-ranked Nate Parker in 3:40.
Parker to an early 2-1 lead heading into the second period, but Esposito recorded an escape to tie the score at 2-2. Esposito then hooked up "the snake" on Parker, flipping him over and pinning him.
Jerrod Sanders used five takedowns before recording the decision over Beau DeArmon to cut the lead to 116-12.
The Cowboys knotted up the score at 16-16 after Shane Roller used four takedowns en route to a major decision over Rafael Naturino.
OSU took its first lead of the night after Tyrone Lewis major decisioned Wes Roberts, 13-4. Lewis took a 4-0 lead heading into the third period, but then recorded four takedowns to secure the major.
Chris Pendleton knocked off Robbie Waller, 7-4, to give the Cowboys their eighth straight win over OU.
The Cowboys return to action on Dec. 19 when they compete in the Reno Tournament of Champions.
