Cowboy Wrestling Leads RTOC Heading into Quarterfinals

Oklahoma State's wrestling team used five falls in the first two rounds of the Reno Tournament of Champions today to take a three-point advantage heading into the quarterfinals.
Senior All-American Skyler Holman entered the tournament as the second seed, and pinned Seth Dunipace of Princeton in 1:18 in the first round.
The Broken Arrow, Okla., native then used four takedowns and two two-point nearfalls before recording the major decision over Joel Mittelman of Cal Poly.
Junior Cody Stites wrestled his way to a major decision over Lassen's Justin Stanley, but fell to top-seeded Ben Vombaur, 2-1, in the second round.
Top-seeded Johnny Thompson used four takedowns in the first period to take an 8-4 lead over Sklar Woods of Oregon. The junior from Oklahoma City, Okla., used a takedown in the second period before recording the fall in 4:14.
After receiving a bye in the first round, second-seeded Jerrod Sanders used five takedowns before recording the technical fall over Waylon Alsbury of Southern Oregon.
Redshirt freshman Jake Rosholt leads the Cowboys with two falls. The Sandpoint, Idaho, native used two takedowns before pinning Alex Camargo of Kent State in 4:41. Rosholt then pinned Central Missouri's Kevin Grece in 1:22 in the second round.
Senior Muhammed Lawal pinned Grant Thompson of Southern Oregon in 4:41. Lawal recorded three takedowns in the first period to take a 6-2 lead heading into the second period.
Lawal then blisterd Thompson, taking him down six times in the second before notching the fall.
