Cowboys Fall to Aggies, 9-6

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Oklahoma State's ninth-inning rally fell short this afternoon as the Cowboys dropped the second game of the series to Texas A&M at Olsen Field.
With the loss, the Cowboys move to 31-13 on the season and 11-9 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas A&M improves to 25-19 and 10-10 in Big 12 Conference play and ends their seven-game losing skid.
Oklahoma State got on the board with two runs in the second inning courtesy of singles by Jose Virgil, Toby Rhodes and Ali Modami.
In the third inning, Jake Bollig's single scored Nebasett Brown to make the score 3-0.
Paul Powell was hit by a pitch and scored on another single by Bollig in the fourth inning. Pinch hitter Jimbo McAuliff's sacrifice fly to center field plated Luke Scott, who reached base with a single.
Texas A&M tied the game 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth as Ryan Wardinsky doubled and scored on catcher Rusty Meyer's single and pinch hitter Travis Wong hit a grand slam home run.
The Aggies then took the lead in the sixth inning as Meyer hit a solo homer off Cowboy reliever Shane Hawk.
Greg Porter hit a three-run dinger in the eighth inning for the Aggies, bringing the score to 9-5.
Brown and Powell led off the top of the ninth with back-to-back singles for Oklahoma State. Jose Virgil's RBI ground out scored Brown, bringing the final score to 9-6.
Hawk picked up the loss in relief for the Cowboys, allowing four earned runs in 3.1 innings of work. For the Aggies, reliever Chris French received his second win of the season and closer Chris Russ pitched the final two outs to get the save for Texas A&M.
Offensively, the Cowboys were led by Jake Bollig, who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Brown and Scott were both 1-for-4 with two runs scored apiece.
Oklahoma State will face Texas A&M tomorrow for the final game of the series. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
