* STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's Alexandra Lindquist and Valentina Media have one more shot to automatically qualify for the March 9-10 NCAA Indoor Track & Field meet in Fayetteville, Ark.
This weekend, the two Cowgirl runners will travel to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in the Nebraska Last Chance meet. Last chance meets allow unqualified athletes an opportunity to qualify to compete in the national meet.
Lindquist, a junior All-American from Norrtajle, Sweden, has already provisionally qualified for nationals in the indoor mile run. Last weekend at the Big 12 Championship meet, she finished third in the mile. Her time of 4:47.20 allowed her beat the provisional qualifying marks of 4:50.00. Lindquist, though, hopes this weekend's last chance meet will give her the opportunity to run the mile in less than 4:44.00, which will automatically qualify her to run at nationals.
Medina, a talented freshman runner from Venezuela, isn't as close to meeting the marks as Lindquist, but she still has a chance. Medina's top time in the mile this season came at the Feb. 2 Jayhawk Invitational. She finished the race in 5:06.99. Therefore, she must shave 16 seconds off her season high time to provisionally qualify for nationals.
The Nebraska Last Chance meet will be held in the Devaney Sports Center at the University of Nebraska. The Cowgirls' competed in this same facility last weekend at the Big 12 Championship meet.
