DALLAS, Tex. - Oklahoma State true freshman pitcher Scott Baker of Shreveport, La., has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week by a select panel of media covering Big 12 baseball for games played from Jan. 26-Feb. 4.
The 6-4 Baker, a righthander, got a win in his college debut last Sunday for the Cowboys. He pitched five shutout innings while giving up only two hits and one walk in OSU's 17-0 win over UC Riverside. For his efforts, he was named to the Caballero Classic All-Tournament team.
Baker and his Oklahoma State teammates will look to improve upon the team's 3-0 start when they travel to Florida this weekend for a pair of games against Boston College and single games against Florida Atlantic and Miami (Fla.).
