Cowboy Baseball Ranked 10th In Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State is ranked No. 10 in Collegiate Baseball's Fabulous 40 Preseason Poll the newspaper released today.
Senior second baseman Nebasett Brown was named a third-team All-American as well and is one of seven starters returning from last year's NCAA tournament team which finished 42-22.
Brown, entering his third year as a starter for OSU, finished the 2001 season with a team leading .381 average to go along with six homers, five triples and 57 RBIs. He also swiped 12 bases and scored a team-high 60 runs in 60 games played.
Eight of the Cowboys' nine top pitchers also return from last year, led by sophomores Scott Baker and Joe Weaver, both of whom earned Freshmen All-America plaudits in 2001.
The Cowboys are the highest ranked team from the Big 12 and are followed by Nebraska at No. 13, Texas at No. 15, Baylor at No. 18, Texas Tech at No. 26 and Texas A&M at No. 30.
Non-conference opponents Arizona State (No. 20), Oral Roberts (No. 31) and Cal-State Northridge (No. 33) were also on the list.
Stanford, last season's runner-up is ranked No. 1 with Florida State, Tulane, Southern Cal and LSU rounding out the top-five.
Oklahoma State opens the 2002 campaign at home against Prairie View A&M on Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
