STILLWATER, Okla. - Seven members of the Oklahoma State women's track team competed yesterday at the Oklahoma Track Classic in Norman, Okla.
Three Cowgirls posted season high times in each of their events. Senior Araceli Davila's 5:14.62 time in the mile run beat the previous top time for the team by two seconds. Freshman Carolyn Flowers, who finished ninth in the 600-yard run in 1:32.89, also set the season high time for the event. Freshman Jere Boykin's 1:01.18 finish in the 400m dash beat out her previous season high time of 1:02.72.
Coach Catrina Acosta seemed pleased with the girls' efforts at the Oklahoma Track Classic.
"This is a very young team," Acosta said. "We have 18 freshmen on this year's roster. It is going to be difficult to predict how good they are going to get. It is just going to take time for them to learn how to compete at this level."
Several of the Cowgirls will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. this coming Saturday to compete in the 3,000m. After that, the whole team is expected to compete the following weekend in Lawrence, Kan.
