Cowboy Runners Finish Well At Wildcat Invitational

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Members of the 2001 Cowboy track team finished well in Manhattan, Kan. on Friday.
Oklahoma State's men's track team had nine runners place in the top 20 for the 3,000-meter run and eight runners place in the top 20 for the mile run.
Junior Vasquez placed first in the mile run and the 3,000-meter run. He crossed the line with a time of 4:13.83 in the mile and 8:31.27 in the 3000-meter.
Also in the mile run, Jerry Rainey finished third with a time of 4:19.18 and Ben Lake finished fourth with a time of 4:19.39. OSU's Matt Hart and Trey Vernon placed seventh and 11th in the mile with times of 4:21.89 and 4:24.50, respectively. Chris McWatters came in 12th with a time of 4:25.68. Bruce Wright finished with a time of 4:28.75 and a 14th-place finish. Ben Sigle rounded out the Cowboy mile runners with a 16th-place finish and a time of 4:32.02.
In the 3,000-meter run OSU runners earned the top three spots. Coming in second behind Junior Vasquez was Derek Tate with a time of 8:41.46. Jerry Rainey was third with a time of 8:44.58. Trey Vernon's time of 8:49.55 earned him a fifth-place finish. Bruce Wright and Ben Lake placed seventh and eighth with times of 8:53.77 and 8:53.82. Matt Hart earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 9:04.76. Chris McWatters and Jon Cordes placed 12th and 14th, rounding out the Cowboy top 20. They had times of 9:06.96 and 9:16.94.
OSU freshman Daniel Vogoeli earned a second-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with at time of 2:27.57.
