Note: Fifth-year Seniors Signed Before Draft Noted With Asterisks, Total of 39 from 10 schools
Note: Big 12 schools have 26 alumni on 2000 Major League Baseball rosters and are expected to have several free agent signings in coming days. Oklahoma State had five players from the 2000 team drafted, third most in the conference. Matt Smith, OSU's all-time strikeout leader and fourth-round pick of the back-to-back world champion New York Yankees, was the highest Cowboy to be picked since Jason Bell was drafted in the second round of the 1995 draft by the Minnesota Twins. Of the five picks, only Quenten Patterson has used up his college eligibility, while the other four have one year of eligibility remaining if they choose not to sign a professional contract. Not included in this list is Carlos Gautreaux who is expected to sign a free agent contract.
