Cowboys Perform Well In Distance Races At OSU Duals

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's track team had many top-five finishes in the distance events at the OSU Duals here today. Junior Vasquez had the Cowboys' top finish of the day as he turned in a second-place performance in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:36.00. Trey Vernon finished the race in third in 8:52.24. Gregory Rouault finished the race in eighth with a time of 9:29.56, while Cedric DuPont was ninth in 9:31.35.
In the 1,500m run, Jason Woolhouse crossed the line in third in 4:01.88. Jerry Rainey finished fourth in 4:02.42, and Ben Tickner was fifth with a time of 4:03.58. Mike Cliff and Jon Cordes rounded out the Cowboys' entries in the event with seventh- and ninth-place finishes, respectively. Ben Lake produced OSU's best finish in the 800m with a time of 1:56.59, good enough for third place. David Greenshields, Rainey and Tickner finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Greenshields ran the event with a time of 1:57.04, while Rainey finished in 1:58.74 and Tickner produced a time of 2:01.24. The Cowboys lost both of the duals tallied today. Tulsa beat OSU 65-23, and Wichita State won 90-43. Wichita State made it a clean sweep by beating Tulsa 80-65.
Cowboys Chuck Sloan and Derek Tate will compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., later tonight. Sloan will run in the 5,000m race, while Tate is in the 10,000m event.
