Cowboys Travel To The Missouri Southern Invitational II

JOPLIN, Mo. - Senior Chuck Sloan finished second in the mile race and five members of Oklahoma State's men's indoor track team finished in the top 10 of the 3,000-meter run at the Fazoli's Missouri Southern Invitational II completed here late Saturday night.
Sloan was the first collegiate runner to cross the line in the mile, as he finished the race in 4:05.74. That time meets the 4:06.00 mark to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships in March. Unattached runner Jason Pyrah won the race in a time of 4:01.63.
Ben Lake finished in the top 10 in the mile as well. He placed eighth with a time of 4:14.73. Mike Cliff finished 25th in 4:26.71, while Ben Sigle was 30th with a time of 4:32.60.
Freshman Jason Woolhouse led the way for the Cowboys in the 3,000m. He finished the race in fifth behind four Arkansas runners and an unattached one. Woolhouse crossed the line with a time of 8:30.24. Razorback James Karanu finished well ahead of anyone else to win the race with a time of 8:01.39.
Sophomore Bruce Wright finished the race behind Woolhouse in sixth, completing the race in 8:36.07. Derek Tate was eighth in 8:39.91, Junior Vasquez finished ninth with a time of 8:42.13 and Trey Vernon crossed the line 10th in 8:47.05 to round out the top 10 finishes in the race.
Jerry Rainey finished the race in 14th in 8:52.23, while Ben Tickner was 18th with a time of 9:01.40. Gregory Rouault completed the Cowboys participation in the 3,000m race. He finished 22nd in the field of 35 with a time of 9:10.06.
Cam Katchuk also competed for the Cowboys. He finished the 400m dash in 11th place with a time of 50.52.
The Cowboys will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., next weekend to compete in the Tyson Golden Spikes Meet on Feb. 11-12.
