Michigan State Upsets Pokes

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked wrestling team suffered a shocking 21-10 loss to 10th-ranked Michigan State on Sunday afternoon at the Jenison Field House.
The Spartans broke an 18-match losing streak to the Cowboys which dated back to the 1973-74 season. The win improved Michigan State's record to 10-4-1 on the season, Oklahoma State fell to 12-5-1 and remains 3-1-1 in Big 12 action.
The Cowboys were able to pick up wins at three weight classes. Trailing 12-0, OSU's third-ranked Reggie Wright decisioned MSU's Corey Posey 5-2.
At 165 pounds, Ty Wilcox earned bonus points with a 10-2 major decision over the Spartans 15th-ranked Greg DeGrand.
OSU's fourth-ranked 184-pounder Daniel Cormier also won earning a 3-2 decision over James Brimm.
The Cowboys suffered upsets at three weight classes. Dave Anderton (285), Jeff Ragan (125) and Jamill Kelly (141) all were decisioned by lower ranked opponents.
At 197 pounds, the afternoon's premier matchup, Michigan State's No. 1 Nick Muzashvilli used a takedown in the waning seconds of the third period to upend OSU's No. 2 Mark Mu-oz 3-2.
Pat McNamara, Michigan's State's second-ranked 133 pounder, staved off numerous takedown attempts from OSU's seventh-ranked Charles Walker and earned a 3-2 decision.
The Pokes will have two weeks off to regroup and prepare for the Big 12 Championships on Sunday, March 5, in Lincoln, Neb.
