Cowboy Golfers in Second at Palmetto Dunes

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Anders Hultman and J.C. DeLeon carded top-five opening-round scores to lead the Oklahoma State men's golf team into second place after the first round of the Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational, presented by Cleveland Golf.
Hultman's 6-under-par score of 66, the low round by a Cowboy this year and his career-best collegiate score, put him one stroke behind first-round leader Cody Beyer of Arizona. DeLeon shot 67 on Friday and is in a tie for fourth place. Freshman Par Nilsson joined his teammates in the top 20, shooting 69 to stand in 12th place.
The Cowboys' team score of 14-under-par 274 is six strokes behind Georgia, which blistered the Arthur Hills course with a 268.
Matt McQuillan (tied for 45th with a 72) and Pete Stone (67th with a 74 in his collegiate debut) rounded out the OSU lineup.
The tournament continues with single rounds Saturday and Sunday.
