Six Runs in Eighth Inning Lift Cowboys Over Western Illinois

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State (24-12, 6-7 Big 12) scored six runs in the eighth inning Saturday afternoon to rally past Western Illinois, 13-7.
The Leathernecks' (7-14) Steve Luke ironically hit a grand slam in the first inning, in the same circumstances that Oklahoma State's Marc Fournier did Friday afternoon.
Oklahoma State's Steve Hartsburg blasted a two RBI single in the bottom half of the first inning that cut WIU's lead to 4-2.
WIU would strengthen their lead in the fourth with Doug Meyers singling in Luke then in the fifth Justin Wohlers singling in Ken Saveley.
In the seventh, OSU would rally two runs off Tony Lucca's 12th double of the season and a failed infield fly call by the umpires.
In the eighth, Ryan Langdon hit a solo home run that tied the game at seven. Then OSU's Jay McCullough laced a bases loaded three run triple that put the came out of reach for WIU. To cap off the inning, Rusty Puffinbarger hit his second double of the day to scored a streaking Kevin Lucas who reached due to a base hit.
Oklahoma State and Western Illinois will conclude their series this Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m.
