Guerrero Set to Defend Title

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Two-time defending champion Eric Guerrero will look to make it three straight titles when he wrestles Cody Sanderson of Iowa State in the national finals at the NCAA Wrestling Championships at Penn State University.
Returning national champion Teague Moore dropped a tiebreaker decision to top- ranked Stephan Abas of Fresno State. The match was exciting throughout as Moore scored a reversal with two seconds left in regulation to send the match to overtime. Moore won the coin flip and chose down but could not escape, after Abas dropped on the legs on three different occasions.
Mark Smith and Reggie Wright garnered All-American status with wins in the fourth and fifth rounds of consolations. They both can still as high as third, as can Moore. Mark Munoz and Dave Anderton bowed out of the tournament one win short of All-American honors.
Tournament favorite Minnesota is leading the tournament with 89.5 points. Iowa is in second place with 86 points. Penn State is third with 74.5, Iowa State is fourth with 68 and Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are fifth with 64.5 points.
