NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's track team set some new best times for the season and won three sections of events at the OU Classic here today.
The Cowboys won races in the mile and the 3,000m, while making their mark in the mile, 1,000m and the 600y.
Junior Chuck Sloan and senior Brian Young beat the Cowboys' season time in the mile run set at the Wildcat Invitational with a 1-2 finish in the event. Sloan finished in 4:10.02 with Young right behind him, crossing the line in 4:11.26.
Senior Nathaniel Lane won the second section of the mile with a mark of 4:23.33.
Andrew Hennessy, a senior newcomer, placed third overall in the 1,000m with a time of 2:29.05. His time was almost a full second ahead of the Cowboys' previous best in that event.
Freshman Cam Katchuck's 1:12.37 in the 600y, good enough for third overall, was the best finish by a Cowboy this season. He beat his previous best of 1:13.70 from the Wildcat Invitational two weeks ago.
Bruce Wright, a freshman, won Section 1 of the 3,000m in 8:45.01. Senior Gitogo Churu finished second in the second section and overall with a time of 8:26.62, and senior Ren Carlsen followed up in fourth in 8:37.19.
Next up on the schedule for the Cowboys are Cyclone Classic in Ames, Iowa, and the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Feb. 5-6.
