STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's top-ranked wrestling team completed its third straight undefeated season with a 26-11 win over fourth-ranked Iowa, Sunday afternoon in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Coach Jim Zalesky came out and shook up his lineup by moving several wrestlers up a weight, but the strategy failed as the Cowboys won 7-of-10 matches.
Reggie Wright, who was anticipating a matchup with top-ranked T.J. Williams, started the dual off with a 12-7 win over Doug Schwab, Iowa's normal 141-pounder.
Williams moved up to 157 pounds and dropped the Cowboys' Jimmy Arias 6-4. Ty Wilcox had the upset of the dual with a 7-5 win over eighth-ranked Jamie Heidt. Wilcox is unranked and was only 10-10 going into the dual. He won the match with a four-point move late in the third period.
At 174 pounds, Mark Smith wrestled his last home match as a Cowboys. he defeated scrappy Gabe McMahan, 0-7. Mark Mu-oz had a 14-5 major decision win over the Hawkeyes' Paul Jenn.
Iowa's Lee Fullhart then came out with a 21-6 technical fall over the Cowboys Josh Cruzan. Dave Anderton then essentially clinched the dual with a fall over Lee Weber at heavyweight.
Cowboy seniors Teague Moore and Eric Guerrero also closes out their careers at home with wins. Moore had a 10-6 win over Ben Kritsonis and Guerrero major decisioned second- ranked Eric Jurgens, 10-2. Charles Walker then dropped a 3-1 decision to Iowa's Mike Zadick in the last match of the dual.
