Howell, Van Pelt move up in rankings

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State remained seventh as a team, but freshman Charles Howell and senior Bo Van Pelt moved up individually in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released Wednesday.
Ranked 21st in last week's edition of the poll, Howell moved up six spots to No. 15 after finishing third in last week's Big 12 Championship. Van Pelt, who finished fourth in the league tourney, moved up eight spots to No. 25 individually.
Sophomore Edward Loar retained his hold on a top-10 spot, remaining No. 10 in the nation. Sophomore Landry Mahan dropped six spots but remained in the ranking at No. 92.
The Cowboys, who last week won the Big 12 Championship for their 47th conference title in 52 years of collegiate golf, compete this weekend in The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla. The Cowboys will then begin NCAA play when they travel to San Antonio for the NCAA Central Regional on May 14-16. The top 10 schools in the region qualify for the NCAA Championship on May 27-30 in Albuquerque, N.M.
