Cowboys Warm Up for Spring

NORMAN, Okla - In a preview of what's to come next spring, Oklahoma State's men's track team had a good outing at the OU All-Comers Mosier Indoor.
Freshman Andrew Hennessey won the Section 1 800-meter run. He finished a full three seconds ahead of the rest of the pack, crossing the line in 1:57.30. Seth Hawkins of the University of Central Oklahoma placed second in 2:00.30.
In another good event for the Cowboys, true freshman Cam Katchuck won Section 1 of the 600-yard dash. His 1:14.40 paced him ahead of Baylor' Derrick Stroman, who finished in 1:15.60.
OSU had two runners compete in the 400-meter dash. Senior Tony Houchin finished second in 53.50 seconds, and Chris Nuttle tied for third with Baylor's Jeff DaCunha in 53.90 in Section 1 of the finals. UCO's Dwayne Statterwhite barely edge out the other competitors for the title, finishing in 53.20.
James Nichols placed second in the finals of the Flight 1 long jump competition with a leap of 6.83 meters (22 feet, 5 inches), just ahead of Dallas Baptist's Denton Giles' 6.98 meters. Sophomore Clyde Ellis placed fifth in the event, jumping 6.43 meters (21 feet, 1.25 inches).
In the 55-meter dash, Cowboy Lance Smith placed third in his heat during the preliminaries, finishing in 6.40 seconds.
The Cowboys open up their spring indoor season on Jan. 16 at the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
