STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State (27-12, 6-7 Big 12) pitched six pitchers to a dominating 5-1 win over Southwest Texas Wednesday evening.
The Cowboys were helped in the first inning with the first of three errors on the night for the Bobcats. Jim Bo McAuliff scored from second base when a hit by Tony Lucca was unable to be fielded.
In the second inning, Josh Holliday recorded his first of two doubles which scored Billy Gasparino. Holliday would later score with the help of Lucca hitting a base hit.
Holliday was also the star in the fourth with a two-run double into the right field gap. This gave the Cowboys a 5-0 lead.
Oklahoma State pitchers took control of the game by throwing a combined three hit game. Matt Smith and Stu Hunt had a no hitter through five innings, until a questionable base hit call by the official scorer nullified the no hitter. Terry Lawrence, Grant Bergman, Trevor Leu, and Thom Dreier finished the game for the Pokes. Dreier gave up the lone run in the ninth.
Oklahoma State travels to Baylor this weekend for some Big 12 Conference action. April 17, 18, and 19, will be the dates and game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, then 2 p.m. on Sunday.
