STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State completed a three-game sweep of Iowa State with a 7-3 win Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Stadium.
Catcher Chris Haggard's two-RBI single in the second helped stake the Cowboys to an early 3-0 advantage. Designated hitter Trent Kitsch then gave Oklahoma State a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth, his second home run of the season, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Iowa State rallied with a run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth off of an Aaron Runk RBI single and a Jade O'Brien sacrifice fly to cut the Cowboy lead to 4-3.
Oklahoma State scored two more runs in the seventh and another in the top of the ninth to seal the win.
Haggard lead the Pokes offensively with a 2-for-4 performance and two RBIs. Jeremy Krismer (1-0), who relieved starter Dale Pearson in the fifth, pitched two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief to capture his first win of the season.
Iowa State starter Nate Hilton (0-3) was tagged with the loss as he gave up six runs on eight hits while striking out three.
Oklahoma State moved to 15-7 overall and 4-5 in the Big 12 while Iowa State dropped to 5-16 overall and 0-9 in conference play.
