OSU ATHLETICS 2024 Cowboy BBQ Cook-off
Date: August 31st, 2024 – Oklahoma State vs. South Dakota State
General Details
Athletics will choose 10-15 participants for the Cowboy BBQ Cook-off at the Hall of Fame Block Party prior to the OSU vs. South Dakota State football game. Not all contestants will be chosen due to the limited amount of space. Reminder, this is not a sanctioned BBQ Cook-off. It is a FRIENDLY competition. You will be informed by Tuesday, August 20th if you will be participating in the Cowboy BBQ Cook-off or not.
Entry Form Deadline
Sunday, August 18th at midnight.
Rules:
- BBQ locations will be in the south (eastbound) lanes of Hall of Fame Ave. between Washington and Knoblock in the Hall of Fame Block Party north of Boone Pickens Stadium. If you are selected, you will be sent a map.
- Dropping off grill/set-ups will be scheduled for 6:30pm-9:30pm on Friday August 30th.
- Leave Time: The earliest participants can leave is fifteen (15) minutes following kickoff. All grills/setups must be removed from Hall of Fame Ave no later than an hour following the completion of the game.
- You can pick up your Brisket courtesy of Oklahoma Beef Council from Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater during business hours from August 26th to August 29th.
- Please coordinate your pick up time with Jay Wilson at jay.wilson11@okstate.edu prior to arrival.
- You MUST start & finish your brisket at the block party. You may NOT BBQ at your tailgate and bring it back for judging.
- ONE Brisket will be provided to each contestant courtesy of Oklahoma Beef Council.
- You will be judged on a plate of food that must include use of the Brisket provided by Oklahoma Beef Council. Additionally, you can make side dishes to complement your beef dish. 4 judges will assign you a score based on your plate of food. The three Highest combined scores will win prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
- As a reminder about our No Re-entry Policy. If you decide to attend the game, keep that in mind as you will not be able to leave the stadium to check on your grill/set-up and then go back into the game.
- Tickets to the football game will NOT be provided to participants of the Cowboy BBQ Cook-off, but prizes will be awarded courtesy of OSU Athletics and Oklahoma Beef Council.
- OSU will provide a staff member to watch the area throughout the block party (three hours prior to kick) until the game kicks off. After that time the grills/set-ups will be unsupervised by OSU and left at your own risk.
- OSU Athletics is not responsible for any damage done to grills/set-ups.
