- Iowa State used a 13-2 run to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 21-12 advantage midway through the first half. However, Oklahoma State closed the first half with a 13-4 run that brought the halftime score to 39-36 in favor of the Cyclones. OSU limited Iowa State to 2-of-13 shooting from the field to close the first half.
- The Cyclones opened the lead back up to 62-51 midway through the first half before OSU rallied to trim the deficit to 64-59 with 9:26 left. Iowa State responded and extended its advantage to 76-63 with 6:25 left and never looked back from that point to seal its win.
- Oklahoma State will learn its NCAA Tournament destination on Sunday.
- Oklahoma State turned the ball over just three times in the first half, marking one of the Cowboys' best halves of the season in terms of ball security. Only five times before Thursday had the Pokes turned it over less than three times in a half this season.
- Jawun Evans scored 29 points Thursday to mark his 14th 20-point game of the season and his 13thconsecutive double-figure scoring game. He has now scored 20 or more points in each of his last three games.
- Jeffrey Carroll added 21 points for his 27th double-figure scoring game of the season and his 15th game of 20 or more points.
- Phil Forte scored 12 points and added a pair of steals.
- Mitchell Solomon grabbed a team-best nine rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end of the floor.
- Finishing around the rim was a challenge for Oklahoma State on Thursday, evidenced by the Cowboys' 13-of-33 shooting on layups.
- Freshman guard Lindy Waters played for the first time since injuring his foot prior to Oklahoma State's game against Texas on Feb. 11. He had missed the Cowboys' last seven regular season games.

- In the four games prior to Thursday, Oklahoma State was 67-of-73 from the free throw line as a team. OSU went 15-of-19 from the charity stripe against the Cyclones. The Cowboys entered Thursday's game ranked fourth nationally with a season free-throw percentage of 78.7 percent.
- Phil Forte entered Thursday's game leading the nation in free throw percentage and had made his last 20 attempts from the stripe. He went 2-for-2 Thursday.
- Jawun Evans entered Thursday's game ranked third in the Big 12 in free throw percentage and riding the crest of a streak of 29 consecutive free throws made. He went 3-for-4 Thursday.
- Oklahoma State has made at least one three-pointer in 546 consecutive games, dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
Records Watch
- Phil Forte extended his Oklahoma State career records for both three-point field goals made and three-point field goals attempted. His updated career totals now include 328 three-pointers made and 828 three-pointers attempted.
- Thursday's game marked the 134th start of Phil Forte's career, which moved him into a tie for third in school history. Only Bryant Reeves (136) and Byron Eaton (136) started more games than Forte at Oklahoma State.
