FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State track & field wrapped up its outdoor regular season Friday at the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Ark.
Several Cowboys and Cowgirls sat atop the podium of their respective events, including multiple podiums full of orange and black and two athletes setting meet records.
Kian Davis led a quartet of Cowboys who finished in the top five in the 3,000 Meters. Running unattached, Davis separated himself from the pack early, ultimately finishing the race with a personal best time of 8:18.98. His finish broke a nine-year-old meet record set by Oklahoma City's David Mountford in 2014.
Grant Wilcox and
Ben Calusinski joined Davis on the podium, finishing in 8:38.62 and 8:45.23, respectively.
Wyatt Landis was the other Cowboy in the top five with an 8:51.17 finish.
Cowgirl throwers had an impressive day with both Hannah Bradford and Rachel Neaves bringing home individual victories.
In the women's Discus Throw, Bradford secured her second consecutive victory in the event with a 52.31-meter toss. Her throw set the Arkansas Twilight meet record, previously held by former Cowgirl Ieva Zarankaite, which was set in 2014. After setting her personal best throw at the John Jacobs Invitational in April, Bradford proved that she's capable of dominating the field by comfortably winning this competition by four meters.
Neaves got the day started in the Hammer Throw, where she launched a hammer 58.84 meters, securing her first individual victory in any throwing event of her career. Neaves later competed in the Shot Put, where she put forth another solid performance, placing second with a 14.32-meter throw.
In the men's 1,500 Meters,
Christopher Middleton-Pearson took home the victory with an outdoor personal best 3:40.41 finish. Middleton-Pearson has now set a personal best in the event for the second time in as many attempts, blasting past his previous one by four seconds.
Ryan Schoppe and
Isai Rodriguez followed Middleton-Pearson with their second- and third-place finish.
On the women's side of the 1,500, Heidi Demeo reached the podium in a tight finish, where each of the top six competitors finished within two seconds of each other. Demeo's 4:19.48 finish is an outdoor personal best as she placed third, her second podium visit in the event this season.
Bailey Golden continued her dominance with a pair of podium finishes in the women's Long Jump and 100 Meter Hurdles. She started her day with a 6.06-meter leap in the Long Jump, good enough for second place on the day. Immediately after, she turned in a 13.97 second performance in the hurdles, placing third.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will now turn to the postseason, as they travel to Norman, Okla., May 13-15 to take on the Big 12 Outdoor Championship.
