Postgame Notes: Oklahoma State 71 Stanford 65

The Cowboys won their 21^st game on the season and will advance to the NIT quarterfinal round. They will face the winner of the Western Kentucky at Southern California game. Should USC win, OSU would travel to Los Angeles for a Wednesday night game. If WKU wins, OSU will host the Hilltoppers on Wednesday.

The win ties the school record with 15 home wins this season. The Cowboys won a second straight NIT game for the first time in school history.

It extended its lead in the overall series with Stanford to 3-1. OSU moves to 6-1 in NIT games played in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys are now 9-12 all-time in NIT play and 47-39 all-time in postseason play (NCAA + NIT). It secures the 799th all-time win in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Cowboys outscored the Cardinal 29-18 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Jeffrey Carroll led all scorers with 26 points, tying a career-high in 3-pointers made with 5. He has now reached double-figures scoring in 53 of his last 64 games played.

Tonight's crowd of 9,635 is the largest for any NIT game in program history.

The Cowboys jumped out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to a 9-0 run that held Stanford scoreless for 4:13.

OSU led 29-19 with 3:34 left in the second quarter, and Stanford ended the first half on a 10-1 run to cut into OSU's lead to make it 30-29.

The Cowboys did a good job of taking care of the basketball. They turned it over only six times, which is their lowest mark of the season.

The Cowboys rank second in the Big 12 with a 76.2 percent clip from the free throw line. Tonight, they shot 52 percent from the charity stripe.

With his 19 points, Kendall Smith has reached double figures in scoring in 13 of his last 15 games, and is averaging 16.4 points on 44.8 percent shooting from 3-point over that span.

The Cowboys are now 17-2 in games when they make 9 or more 3-pointers.

Lindy Waters has now made 14 of his last 25 three-point attempts over the last seven games. He is shooting 56 percent from the beyond the arc in that stretch.

OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 583 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001, which is the 24th longest current streak in college basketball.
