Oklahoma State NCAA Selection Quotes
March 12, 2018 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State Head Coach Jim LittellÂ
Â
On The NCAA Tournament Bid
"This is what you play for. This is what the kids play for in the summer and the offseason and I'm just thrilled to be back in the NCAA Tournament. I'm really happy for our three seniors who have invested so much in this program."Â
Â
On Waiting To Hear OSU's Name Called
"It's not easy and I felt all along we were in. I thought after the TCU game that we were in the tournament, but until you see your name up there, there's not that breath of letting anxiety out."Â
Â
On The Seniors
"I know they are excited. They want to leave with a postseason win and this is very important to them. We play a great Syracuse team that's very athletic and plays in a great conference, so we've got a big challenge ahead of us but we're excited to be in the field."
Â
On Braxtin MillerÂ
"She will play and she will practice today. We are excited to get her back on the floor and I know that she's ready to go."Â
Â
On Making The Tournament Five Times In Seven Seasons
"I like the consistency that we have built. We have had six 20-win seasons and now the fifth NCAA tournament. It's a privilege to coach here at Oklahoma State. I love our fan base and this is also an exciting time for our fans, who have been very loyal to us." Â
Â
On SyracuseÂ
"They have got a great point guard and they're very athletic. The point guard leads the nation in assists and is a pro. They have got other great athletes around her."Â
Â
Oklahoma State Senior Kaylee Jensen
Â
On The Team Getting Into The NCAA Tournament
"It was really exciting to see our name pop up in the end. There were some rumors that we were in, so that was kind of the hope all along."
Â
On If There Was Any Fear Of Not Getting In
"I'll say a little bit. Everyone says 'You're going to get in. They are going to take at least three from the Big 12.' Towards the end and there was one bracket left, I kind of asked myself 'Are we not going to get called in?' I started sweating a little bit, but that made it that much more exciting when we did get in."
Â
On How Big It Is For Her To Play In The NCAA Tournament a Third Time
"It was huge. The first two years were really exciting, but being a senior and going to the tournament is something huge. That's something you want to leave behind as a senior, so I'm glad I could do that."Â
Â
On The Importance Of Playing Well As A Senior
"That's going to be huge. I want to for sure. I know (Loryn Goodwin) and Mandy (Coleman) do too. We are all competitors and we want to win in this tournament so we can leave our mark and legacy behind."
Â
On How Important Leadership Is For The NCAA Tournament
"It's going to be really important. When you get to the NCAA Tournament, seedings don't matter. It's going to be a grind every day. Every game that you win and continue to move on, it's going to be a hard game. It doesn't matter if you're UConn, it doesn't matter if you're a No. 1 seed. Someone could beat you any night. If you don't bring your 'A' game it could be game over for you, so I think it will be important. Coach will tell them that we can beat anybody when we go into this thing."
Â
On What She Thinks Her Legacy Will Be
"I think it will be a mark in and of itself, but if we get a win it would be even more special so I'll let you know."
Â
On If Any Of Her Three NCAA Selections Stands Out
"Definitely the last one. The first two years is kind of exciting, but having the role I've had the last couple of years has made it that much more special. To be on a team where I've been able to produce and actually help get us there has been touching to me."
Â
Oklahoma State Graduate Transfer Loryn Goodwin
Â
On Seeing Oklahoma State's Name Appear
"I was really excited to see our name pop up. This is my first NCAA Tournament, and a lot of the freshmen. It's really exciting and we're ready to just dance."Â
Â
On Her Expectations Coming To OSU
"I think that was the ultimate goal always. For every team I played for the goal was to get to the NCAA Tournament. But I think to finally do that my senior year makes it even more sweet. It's really a priceless moment to see your name pop up on ESPN and see your team is going to make the NCAA Tournament."
Â
On The Team's Preparation
"We need to just prepare every day and focus on one step at a time. It comes Friday and that's pretty quick. We're just going to try to prepare and do our scout the best we can so we're ready to go whenever our numbers are called."Â
Â
On Ending Her Career In The Tournament
"This is something I'll remember forever and I know a lot of us will. It's such an exciting time. It's what everyone looks forward to. If people haven't watched women's basketball all year long, they'll watch the tournament and they'll get to see all the hard work we've put in this entire time. We're ready to get back out on the court. It feels like we haven't played in two weeks."
