Oklahoma State University Athletics

Postgame Notes: Oklahoma State 72 Kansas State 82
February 14, 2018 | Cowboy Basketball
- Kansas State shot 54.9Â percent from the field in the game. The last time an opponent shot that well was when TCU shot 55.6 percent on Jan. 30, 2018.
- This loss would be the first time the two teams did not split the regular season series since the 2011-2012 season. Kansas State also took both games in that season, too. Kansas State now leads the overall series, 81-53, and cut OSU's lead in Stillwater to 33-26.
- Kansas State's six conference losses all came against the same three teams, Texas Tech, West Virginia and Kansas. They are undefeated against the rest of the Big 12.
- The 17 point halftime deficit is the fourth largest ever in a home game and the tied for the sixth largest in a Cowboy Big 12 game.
- The Cowboys outrebounded the Wildcats 16-2 on the offensive end and turned those rebounds into 22 second chance points.
- Cameron McGriff and Yankuba Sima continue to make things difficult for opposing shooters. McGriff had one block to give him nine over the last five games. Sima recorded one block to give him eight over the last five games.
- Kansas State ended the first half on a 19-4 run to give them a 37-20 lead heading into the second half.
- The Cowboys had just 20 points at the half, which is the team's lowest halftime point total of the season. The last time OSU scored less than 20 in the first half was on Feb. 28, 2012 at Texas Tech (17 points).
- The 17-point halftime deficit tied for the largest of the season with the loss against Texas A&M in Brooklyn, New York.
- Kendall Smith led the Cowboys with 16 points and a career-high 7 rebounds.
- McGriff remains a consistent free throw shooter. His 6-6 mark from the charity stripe helped him get to 13 points. He also hauled in 7 rebounds, 3 offensive and 4 defensive.
- OSU shot 23.5 percent in the first half against K-State, which is the team's lowest shooting first half of the season. Only OSU's 22.7 percent shooting performance in the second half at Arkansas was lower in any half this year.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 573 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001, which is the 24th longest current streak in college basketball.
