January 05, 2018 | Cowgirl Basketball
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Oklahoma State's Kaylee Jensen was one of 30 women's basketball student-athletes identified as a candidate for the 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award it was announced this week.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
On the floor, Jensen appears on the Citizen Naismith Player of the Year Trophy Watch List as well as the Lisa Leslie Award Watch List. The Genoa, Neb., native was a preseason first-team all-conference pick after earning first-team all-league honors last year as the Big 12's leader in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles.
As a junior, she was named a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American and was tabbed as the Big 12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well.
The class of 30 candidates will be narrowed to a field of 10 finalists in February with those 10 names being placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select the candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2018 Women's Final Four this spring. For more information on each of the candidates, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
