Post-Game Notes
- The defining stretch of the game came in the final minutes of the first half and into the beginning of the second half, when Oklahoma went on a 21-6 run to turn a 44-40 lead with 2:38 left in the first half into a 65-46 advantage with 16:29 remaining in the contest. From that point on, the Sooners and Cowboys played to a virtual stalemate, with OU's lead never seriously threatened.
- Including Wednesday's defeat, the Cowboys have lost four games this season, all of which came at the hands of teams that are ranked in the top 11 of this week's Associated Press poll.
- Oklahoma State was led in scoring by sophomore guard Thomas Dziagwa, who set a career high with 19 points. Dziagwa set another career high by connecting on five three pointers in 10 attempts. Dziagwa's five made three-pointers Wednesday were the most for a Cowboy since Jeffrey Carroll drained five against Kansas last season. Â
- Jeffrey Carroll notched his seventh career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. It was his second double-double of the season.
- One of the most notable challenges Oklahoma State faced entering the game was defending Oklahoma point guard Trae Young, who entered the contest leading the nation in both scoring (29.6 points per game) and assists (10.7 per game). Young finished with 27 points and 10 assists to go with nine rebounds.
- Oklahoma State faced Oklahoma without the services of guard Lindy Waters, who missed the game due to injury. Waters had started each of OSU's first 13 games before being held out of Bedlam. His status should be considered as day-to-day.
- With Waters out, Cameron McGriff started, marking his third start of the season and the fourth of his career.
- To further compromise OSU's options on the wing, junior forward Tavarius Shine fouled out with 13:29 remaining in the game. One of the hottest Cowboys in recent games, he scored 16 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field, had two blocks and a steal before picking up his fifth foul Wednesday. Including his effort against the Sooners, Shine has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games.
- Mitchell Solomon also fouled out, picking up his fifth personal with 5:42 remaining. Solomon scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds (all offensive) and matched a career high with four assists in 17 minutes of action before going to the bench.
- Oklahoma entered the game as the nation's highest-scoring team, averaging 94.7 points per game. The Sooners' 109 points Wednesday matched the fifth-most ever for an Oklahoma State opponent and were the most allowed in a game by OSU since 1990. Oklahoma made 15 three-pointers in the contest.
- Wednesday's matchup with the seventh-ranked Sooners was the second straight against a top-10 opponent for Oklahoma State, who faced then-No. 7 West Virginia in Stillwater last time out.
- Senior forward Jeffrey Carroll scored 15 points Wednesday to increase his career total to 1,076. In doing so, he moved past Marcus Smart (1,064 points from 2012-14) to move into 35th on OSU's career scoring chart.
- Wednesday's game was part of The Bedlam Series presented by BlueCross and BlueShield of Oklahoma. The Bedlam Series is an all-sports competition between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma and is calculated by straight wins and losses in head to head competition. In sports where there is no head to head matchup, the Big 12 Championship final standings are used. Including Wednesday's basketball game, OSU holds a 5-2 advantage in this year's Bedlam Series. Oklahoma State has won the overall Bedlam Series each of the last four years.
- Oklahoma State drained nine three-pointers Wednesday to extend its streak of consecutive games with at least one made three-pointer to 561 games, dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
- The Cowboys return to action when they host Iowa State at 3 p.m. Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
