Cowboys Share Lead At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 280 during its opening round at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Friday to share the lead with Alabama and Baylor at Olympia Fields Country Club.
With their matching even-par totals, the three squads stand just a shot ahead of Texas A&M on a tightly bunched leaderboard. Six teams found themselves within six shots of the low score after the first round at the par-70, 7,300-yard layout.
OSU's Zach Bauchou led the way in the individual race, firing a 6-under 64 to grab a two-shot lead. The junior began his day on the back nine, reeling off four birdies in a five-hole stretch before carding his lone bogey of the day at the 18th to turn in 3-under 32. Bauchou turned in a clean front nine with birdies at the first, fifth and seventh holes to get to his final number.
Freshman Matthew Wolff also turned in a sub-70 score, posting a 69 that included five birdies to finish the day tied for 11th place.
Junior Hayden Wood carded an opening 73 to stand in a tie for 37th place.
Seniors Kristoffer Ventura and Brendon Jelley each signed for 74s and finished the day tied for 45th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round at 8:45 a.m. (CST) tomorrow and will be grouped with Alabama and Baylor. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
