STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Hannah Mitchell has been named the 2017 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Reining Rider of the Year, it was announced earlier this week by the organization.
Â
Mitchell, a freshman from Cuba, Mo., had an impressive start to her collegiate career, posting a team-best 9-1 regular season record for the Cowgirls that included five consecutive MOP honors coming against every OSU opponent during the spring season.
Â
She would go on to finish her first season with a 10-2-1 record for the Cowgirls.
Â
"(Mitchell) had a lot of talent coming in, and I knew she had the potential to be one of our better riders," said OSU head coach Larry Sanchez. "It's nice to see this type of success within her freshman year."
Â
Along with her NCEA Reining Rider of the Year honors, Mitchell was named the Big 12 Conference Reining Rider of the Year and a first-team NCEA All-American.
