STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team added three prep standouts during the fall signing period it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jim Littell.
Ja'Mee Asberry, Kassidy De Lapp and Bryn Gerlich all cast their lot with the Cowgirls and will join the program next fall.
"With the signing of these three young ladies, we filled immediate needs for our program," Littell said. "Ja'Mee, Bryn and Kassidy are high character people who will represent Oklahoma State in a very positive fashion on and off the floor."
As a junior, Asberry led East Central High School in Tulsa to a 25-4 mark and the Class 5A state title and was named the Tulsa World's All-World Player of the Year after averaging 21 points, six assists and 3.2 steals per contest. The 5-5 guard was named the state tournament MVP after scoring 64 points in three games.
Additionally, she was named an all-state selection as well as the Green Country Conference's most valuable player in 2017. Asberry will sit out her senior season due to injury, finishing her prep career with 1,403 points, 255 rebounds, 307 assists and 240 steals. As a sophomore, she averaged 14.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
"Ja'Mee is one of the premier players in our state. She led her team to a state championship last year with an MVP performance," Littell said. "She is a very explosive point guard with the ability to shoot the 3 and score off the dribble as well. Her quickness and desire to compete will help her make an immediate impact on our program."
A native of El Dorado Hills, Calif., De Lapp is currently ranked No. 85 in the ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings and holds a No. 13 position ranking. As a junior at Oak Ridge High School, the 6-3 forward averaged 8.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. De Lapp has been named an all-league performer in each of the past three seasons and was a second-team all-state pick following her junior campaign. "We are excited to add Kassidy, who is ranked in the ESPNW HoopGurlz Top 100," Littell said. "She has the versatility to shoot the 3 and go inside and play power basketball. At 6-3, she has a very unique skill set, which will allow her to be a very productive performer for our program."
A product of Colleyville Heritage, Gerlich averaged 19.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game last year en route to being named the District 8-5A MVP and earning Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-state honors. "We are very pleased to add Bryn to the Cowgirl family. She has had an outstanding high school career and will be a positive addition to our program," Littell said. "She is a big guard with the ability to shoot the 3, has a high basketball IQ and makes great decisions on the court. Her leadership qualities and selfless attitude will be invaluable to our team."
