Baylor Postgame Notes
January 07, 2017 | Cowboy Basketball
- Phil Forte hit five 3-pointers on the night, which gives him 282 career 3-pointers. The performance moved him ahead of Randy Rutherford (279 from 1992-95) for second place in OSU history, and just 17 shy of the OSU career mark.
- With 17 points on the night, Forte become just the 14th player in program history to reach the 1,500 point plateau. He now has 1,508 career points, which ranks 14th in school history.
- Jeffrey Carroll ignited an 8-0 Cowboy run that OSU stretched into a 12-2 run to put them up, 28-21, with 1;54 left in the first half. With 14 points on the night, Carroll has scored at least eight points in every game this season and has reached double-figures in 12 games in total.
- The Cowboys held Baylor to just 25 first-half points, which is their second-lowest mark of the season behind a 24-point first half against Louisville.
- The Cowboys' high-pressure defense has forced every opponent to commit at least 11 turnovers. Six OSU opponents have turned the ball over 20-plus times.
- OSU is now 10-3 when leading at the half this season, although the Cowboys led at the half at both Texas and Baylor. The Cowboys have outscored their opponents by 62 points in the first half.
- Mitchell Solomon has at least three offensive rebounds in five of the last seven games, including a four offensive rebound performance tonight.
- Oklahoma State still leads the all-time series against Baylor, 54-25, although the Bears own an 18-17 edge in Waco. The Bears have taken 10 of the last 11 games played in the Ferrell Center.
- Brad Underwood's career record fell to 99-19, but his 83.9 win percentage is still tops among all active coaches with at least 100 games under their belt.
- OSU fell to 9-15 all-time against team ranked No. 2 or better in the AP Poll. The Cowboys are 0-4 against ranked teams this season.
- The Cowboys fell to 0-3 in conference play for the first time since the 1996-96 squad opened Big Eight play with an 0-8 mark.
- The Cowboys will return home to face Iowa State in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Jan. 11. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. on ESPNU and the Cowboy Radio Network.
