PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – For the second year in a row, Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened its fall slate with a victory at the Carmel Cup, posting an eight-shot win on Sunday at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Cowboys closed with a 16-under round of 344 to finish at 1,042, 38-under par, and eight shots clear of Georgia's 1,050 score at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout. Texas Tech finished third at 1,051.

A pair of Cowboys finished among the top five with sophomore Nick Heinen closing with a 2-under 70 to finish at 205 and alone in fourth place. The showing marked the second consecutive year he has finished fourth at the historic venue.
Junior Sam Stevens closed with his second consecutive 69 to share fifth place at 8-under 208. Like Heinen, Stevens' finish also signaled the second year in a row he has finished among the top five at Pebble Beach after tying for fourth place in 2015.

The squad's round of the day came courtesy of freshman Viktor Hovland, who closed out his Cowboy debut with a 66 to move up 19 spots into the group at 211. Hovland got his round going early with birdies at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 before adding another at the sixth before turning at 3-under 33.
