Greenwood Tennis Center Earns USTA Facility Honor
September 01, 2016 | Cowboy Tennis, Cowgirl Tennis
NEW YORK CITY – The Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center was one of 12 tennis facilities honored Thursday at the United States Tennis Association Outstanding Facility Awards at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. It was the only collegiate facility to receive the honor for 2016.
Â
Each year, the USTA recognizes tennis facilities around the country to encourage increasingly high standards for construction and renovation.
Â
The awards are broken down in categories between private, large, educational and small facilities. The Greenwood Tennis Center was honored, along with the McCallie School Strang-Voges Tennis Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., in the educational category, which recognizes facilities at colleges, universities, elementary schools, middle schools or high schools.
Â
Nominations are evaluated based on the facility itself (quality of each court area and surface, quality of the court enclosure and lighting, overall layout and adaptation to site, accessories and amenities, evidence of good and green maintenance) and the tennis program itself (USTA programs, youth tennis programming, other tennis-related programs, important contribution to the game of tennis).
Â
The winners are decided by the USTA Facility Awards Committee. The number of recipients is based on the quality of submissions.
