June 02, 2016 | Cowboy Golf
SILVA, Illinois — Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge was awarded one of six sponsor exemptions for the 2016 John Deere Classic it was announced today.
Niebrugge, who closed out his senior campaign for the Cowboys this past week with a 17th-place showing at the NCAA Championship, was joined on the exemption list by Oregon's Aaron Wise, Arizona State's Jon Rahm, Texas' Beau Hossler, Georgia's Lee McCoy and Illinois' Charlie Danielson.
"The John Deere Classic is proud and eager to have the six top young players announced today in our field for 2016," said John Deere Classic tournament director Clair Peterson. "Part of the John Deere Classic's mission is to provide promising young players with opportunities to compete early in their careers against the best players in the world - the established PGA TOUR veterans who play here every year. A number of those young players – including the likes of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day – have told us the experience they gained at the John Deere Classic helped them immensely to advance in their professional careers."
Played annually at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, the John Deere Classic will be played Aug. 8-14 before moving back to its normal mid-July dates in 2017.
A native of Mequon, Wis., Niebrugge tied for 27th place at the 2014 John Deere Classic with a 10-under total of 274 that included rounds of 71, 68, 66 and 69.
