Stuen, Solomon Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Ford Stuen earned first-team honors and Mitchell Solomon was tabbed to the second team of the 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
This marks the fifth straight year in which two or more Cowboys were named Academic All-Big 12, and it's the first career selections for both Stuen and Solomon. Stuen represents the 22nd first team honoree from OSU in the history of the league.
A Management major, Stuen has 25 appearances in a Cowboy uniform and was named to the NABC Honors Court in 2014-15 for maintaining a 3.2 cumulative GPA. The senior is a career 50.0 percent shooter from the field.
Solomon has started 22 games for the Cowboys this season, and has posted seven blocks in his last five outings. The sophomore is a Mechanical Engineering Technology major, and is averaging 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 2015-16.
To be named to the first team Academic All-Big 12 team members must maintain a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
