UAPB Postgame Notes
December 14, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- OSU is now 5-0 at home this year, and has scored at least 101 points in each of those five contests.
- The Cowboys forced a season-high 31 turnovers on the night, which marks the first time since 2012 in which the Cowboys forced more than 30 turnovers (31 vs. UT Arlington on Dec. 19, 2012).
- Phil Forte was 2-of-2 from the line tonight, which helped him increase his NCAA-leading free throw percentage. The senior is 38-of-39 from the line this year, and has made his last 16 attempts.
- Forte hit two 3-pointers on the night increase his career total to 265, which ranks third in school history. He needs just 34 more to tie the school record, which is currently held by Keiton Page.
- The Cowboys have forced every opponent to commit at least 15 turnovers, and have racked up at least seven steals in every game.
- Jeffrey Carroll led all Cowboys with 18 points, and has reached double-figures in scoring in all but one game this season.
- OSU scored 53 first-half points, which is the sixth time this year the Cowboys have scored 50 or more points in the first half.
- A 12-0 Cowboy run midway through the first half broke the game open for the Cowboys. OSU led by 25 at the break, 53-28.
- Jawun Evans and Phil Forte returned to the starting lineup after a one-game absence. Evans missed the Tulsa game with a bruised left AC joint. Forte came off the bench in the Tulsa game after falling on his tailbone in practice earlier in the week.
- Brad Underwood picked up his 97th career victory in just his 113th game. That .858 win percentage is tops among all active Division I coaches. With just 16 career losses, Underwood has a chance to reach his 100th victory faster than any coaches since Missouri's Doc Meanwell in 1918 (100-9) and Buck Freeman of St. John's in 1932 (100-10).
- The Cowboys are now 5-0 all-time against UAPB, and 25-0 against teams from the SWAC.
- The Cowboys are now 5-0 at home this season. The win improves OSU to 415-52 (.888) all-time inside Gallagher-Iba Arena against non-conference foes, including a 202-7 (.966) mark since 1989.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 525 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
- The Cowboys hit the road to take on Wichita State at Intrust Arena in downtown Wichita, Kansas. Tipoff is slated for Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN3 (webcast).
