Next Day Numbers: Cowboys Tame The Tigers

STILLWATER – The Big 12 flexed its basketball muscles once again, taking seven of the 10 matchups in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday. With the nightcap game against Auburn, Oklahoma State got to put the final nail in the coffin for the Big 12's third straight victory over the SEC.
The Cowboys rode the inside-out combo of Jawun Evans and Chris Olivier to take down the Tigers, 74-63. Evans once again led OSU with 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists - all team highs. It is the freshman's fourth 20-point game. Olivier was 6-of-9 from the floor for 16 points.
Cowboy Quick Hitters
• Jawun Evans led the Cowboys in scoring, rebounding and assists against Auburn. It marked his fourth time this season to lead OSU in all three stat categories, including three of the last six games.
• OSU snapped a two-game losing streak and picked up its first road win of the season with the 74-63 victory over Auburn, which was 7-2 at home this year with a victory over Kentucky.
• Evans posted five assists, which brought his season total to 108 - second among all freshmen in Oklahoma State history. Only Marcus Smart with 139 dimes in 2012-13 had more than Evans as a freshman. Evans entered Saturday's contest with 5.2 assists per game, which leads all freshmen nationwide.
• OSU held the Tigers to 29 percent shooting on the night, which is the second lowest opponent shooting percentage this season.

Winner of the last two Big 12 Newcomer of the Week awards, Evans was one point shy of a points/assists double-double against Baylor, and followed it with a 21-point, seven rebound, five assist game in the win at Auburn. For the week, Evans averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds. His 10 assists against the Bears are the second most ever by an OSU freshman, and his 108 assists on the year are already the second most in a season by a Cowboy freshman. At 5.1 assists per game, Evans leads all freshmen nationwide in the category.
