PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team used a 9-under 351 during its second round at The Carmel Cup on Saturday to vault into the top spot on the leaderboard at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The low team total of the day gave the Cowboys a 36-hole tally of 712, 8-under, and put them nine shots clear of Georgia and Vanderbilt at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout.
Arkansas' Alvaro Ortiz posted a 70 during his second round to stand at 139 and atop the individual leaderboard.
Junior Zachary Olsen led the way for OSU, firing a 69 to finish at 141 and tied for second place. Olsen posted the lone bogey of his outward nine at the fourth and followed with birdies at the sixth and ninth to turn at 1-under 35. His inward nine included birdies at the 11th, 14th and 17th before a bogey at the closing 18th gave him his 3-under score for the day.
Redshirt freshman Nick Heinen posted his second consecutive 71 to come in a stroke back of Olsen and tied for fourth place at 142.
Sophomore Sam Stevens joined his teammates in the top 10 with a 71 of his own to finish at 143 and tied for eighth place.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura used a 71 of his own to stand in a tie for 15th place at 144.
Junior Wyndham Clark carded a 74 during his second round to stand at 147 and tied for 24th place.
Freshman Zach Bauchou fired a 69 to move into a tie for 26th place at 148. In just his second collegiate round, Bauchou birdied five of his first six holes on the day and added another at the eighth before eventually turning in 5-under 31.
