Oklahoma State Postgame Notes vs. Texas
:: CB Kevin Peterson, WR James Washington, OL Michael Wilson and S Dylan Harding served as Oklahoma State captains for today's game.
The Oklahoma State Win...
• Marked the first time anyone has beaten Texas at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium four consecutive times. The Cowboys beat the Longhorns, 33-16 in 2010, 38-26 in 2011 and 38-13 in 2013.
• Improved the Cowboys to 4-0, marking the fourth time under Mike Gundy that OSU have a perfect record after four games. The previous occasions were in 2008, 2010 and 2011. For perspective, OSU had only three 4-0 starts from 1988 until Gundy took over in 2005 (1988, 1997 and 2004).
• Was the Cowboys' sixth consecutive, dating back to last season, marking OSU's longest win streak since the Pokes rattled off seven straight wins in 2013.
• Was Mike Gundy's 50th win over a Big 12 opponent since taking over as Oklahoma State head coach in 2005. None of Gundy's predecessors won more than 30 conference games. Among active Big 12 coaches, only Bill Snyder (109 Big 8/Big 12 wins in 23-plus seasons at Kansas State) and Bob Stoops (104 wins in 16-plus seasons at Oklahoma) have more than Gundy has amassed in 10-plus years at Oklahoma State.
• Improved the Cowboys to 7-2 in their last nine Big 12 openers.
• Improved the Cowboys to 41-5 in their last 46 games against unranked opponents, dating back to 2010.
• Improved the Cowboys to 24-6 in their last 30 games played against teams from the state of Texas, dating back to 2009.
:: Jimmy Bean and Ryan Simmons have both started 30 consecutive games, which equates to starting every game since the start of the 2013 season.
:: Emmanuel Ogbah and Jimmy Bean each recorded a sack, giving them both at least one sack in every game this season. Ogbah has at least one sack in 10 of the last 12 games.
:: Vincent Taylor recorded his second sack of the season on the opening drive of the game.
:: Brandon Sheperd recorded his first touchdown catch of the season and eighth of his career on OSU's opening drive. He now has at least one catch in 20 consecutive games.
:: J.W. Walsh scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter. It was his second rushing score of the year and the 14th of his career. He has accounted for one touchdown in every game this season. He added a passing TD to Jeremy Seaton in the third quarter.
:: OSU scored on a 13-play, 98-yard drive that lasted 4:58 in third quarter, marking the Cowboys' longest scoring drive of the year so far in terms of plays, yards and time elapsed.
:: OSU entered the game ranked 10th nationally with turnovers gained. The Cowboys added one more today, on a Seth Jacobs interception.
:: Miketavius Jones recorded the second sack of his season and career in the third quarter.
:: Jarrell Owens recorded his first career sack in the fourth quarter to end a Texas drive on fourth down.
::During Oklahoma State's current six-game winning streak, the Cowboys have won twice in overtime…on the road at Oklahoma and Texas.
::OSU quarterback Mason Rudolph is 6-1 as a starter and in three of those wins the Cowboys trailed in the second half.
The OSU defense limited Texas to 48 yards in the second half on 34 snaps.
