September 16, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER - There's more to Oklahoma State guard Jawun Evans than just basketball. Check out these five things you probably didn't know about the McDonald's All-American.
Â
Any challengers?:
"I just like hanging around with friends and cracking jokes. Sometimes I play video games, I like to play NBA 2K. I play 'My Player', but if I'm playing against somebody, I play with the Heat or Rockets. I think I'm the best on the team."
Â
Favorite memory with USA Basketball:
"Going overseas was my favorite memory because that was the first time I've ever done anything like that. I wasn't scared to fly, but I couldn't sleep on the way over there because I was so excited."
Â
Chris Paul point guard camp:
"Chris Paul is someone I look up to a lot. I model my game after him. Not only what he does on the court, but also how great he is off the court. I look up to him the most. He's taught me to always go hard, hone in on what I'm doing and grind like there's no tomorrow."
Â
Behind the jersey number:
"It's not because of my name. I wanted to try something new and get away from the numbers I've had previously. I went from 10 to 0, and now I'm No. 1 so it all comes together."
Â
Following in the footsteps of Marcus Smart:
"It was cool meeting him for the first time. Even though we didn't get to talk much, we ended up playing on the same team during pick-up games so that was cool to play on the same team as him."Â
Â
Most embarrassing moment:
"We were scrimmaging another team in high school. I was on the fast break all by myself, open court in front of me, and my leg gave out so I missed a wide open layup. It was bad because there were a lot of people watching and laughing. I tried to play it off like I was hurt and my coach took me out of the game."Â
